Meet the Artist
My name is Mae Wu, I am a 23 year old fine line artist based in Batavia, Illinois. I have been an artist for as long as I can remember, but didn't think I'd ever be able to make art for a living. I completed my sophomore year in college studying speech pathology before I decided that getting a degree wasn't for me, dropped out, and began my tattoo apprenticeship in December 2020. I apprenticed in Schaumburg, Illinois until I graduated in March 2022, and shortly after that began working in Batavia.
About Me
I grew up in Palatine but currently live in Elgin with my boyfriend, our two cats Sage and Skrunkle, and our newly adopted dog Nyla (shoutout to Anderson Humane)! When I'm not drawing or tattooing, I'm probably trying to start yet another hobby. Last month it was houseplants and terrariums, this month is knitting and gardening. So far I've made 2.5 scarves and grown a whole baby tomato (pretty proud of this one). I am also a HUGE fan of the morbid and macabre, and basically anything dead. My collection of oddities grows larger each day, and both my home and studio are filled with skulls, bugs, dried flowers, and funky little taxidermy pieces.
